Philippine Network Orders Content Delivery Platform
The Philippines' largest mobile carrier SMART Communications has selected to commercially deploy Mobilitec's prominent solution for Over-the-Air content delivery and management, mPower. SMART is Mobilitec's eleventh carrier grade commercial deployment. With this deployment, Mobilitec's customer base now represents a potential base of over 70 million users.
Serving over 10 million subscribers, SMART was looking for a scalable and reliable content download solution that will enable them to address the diversified content and pricing model preferences of their pre and post paid subscribers. With its wide range of data services, SMART needed a comprehensive solution that supports the delivery of multiple content types including ring tones, icons and applications and can be easily extended to support additional types and devices.
mPower's feature richness offered SMART an end-to-end solution for all of their service requirements. Subscribers can use a wireless WAP browser or a text message to discover, select and download content items thereby personalizing their device. Subscribers can also initiate the purchase of a ring tone or an icon based on a text message that will activate browsing and delivery of the item to the device through SMS.
"Over-the-air content downloading is a key service for SMART," said Edgardo Bautista, Group Head, MVAS Operations and Development of SMART. "We selected Mobilitec's solution because it will enable us to manage and deliver a broad suite of content services addressing the specific needs of our customers. Mobilitec's team also demonstrated experience and proficiency in carrier service deployment and infrastructure integration which are crucial for quick service launch."
"We are excited to partner with SMART to provide a feature rich and comprehensive content download solution to the Philippines. SMART has taken a very innovative approach to serving the needs of its users and we look forward to supporting them in their future service plans," said Avi Marinstrauss, VP Sales and Business Development of Mobilitec."
