Assisting with E911 Deployment

TeleCommunication Systems (TCS) has announced the launch of its Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) E911 Readiness Services to help state and local Public Safety entities accelerate preparation and implementation of Phase I and Phase II wireless E911 services in their communities.

PSAPs in most states have faced challenges in their implementation of Phase I and Phase II wireless E9-1-1. Many PSAPs lack the in-house technical expertise to prepare for and implement these new services. Additionally, many state and county budgets remain tight, limiting the option to consider outsourcing. Enlisting the new TCS PSAP E91-1-Readiness Services will provide a cost-effective and time-efficient method to bring wireless emergency services to the citizens of cities and counties across the country.

TCS manages over 3,500 PSAP connections which it has deployed in the U.S. and Puerto Rico since 1997.

Adam Guy, Senior Analyst of Wireless/Mobile Services at The Yankee Group, comments, "The bottleneck for E9-1-1 deployment has shifted from the carriers to the PSAPs. Until PSAPs are ready to implement Phase I and Phase II of the FCC E9-1-1 mandate, there will not be a true nationwide E9-1-1 capability".

"TCS' PSAP E9-1-1 Readiness Services enable Public Safety Answering Points to get their Wireless E9-1-1 services up and running in the most cost effective and expeditious manner while allowing the PSAP to focus on what they do best - saving lives," stated Timothy J. Lorello, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for TCS."
