Number Portability Analysis Tools Released
The Management Network Group has launched the world's first proprietary, independent set of tools to address the impact of Wireless Number Portability (WNP) on USA based wireless service providers.
The implementation of WNP later this year will for the first time enable wireless subscribers to keep their existing phone numbers when changing providers. With the US Court of Appeals decision to uphold the November 24th implementation date for WNP, carriers must now ensure a smooth transition prior to the deadline.
A critical first step to achieving that smooth transition is a complete understanding of the impact of WNP on carrier business models. TMNG's recent WNP research on user behavior within both consumer and business markets offers service providers insight into the impact of WNP on their specific business.
TMNG's WNP toolkit includes a proprietary modeling tool that forecasts the business and financial impact of WNP for each service provider. The modeling tool examines: fluctuations in ARPU, subscriber adds, churn, operating impact associated with provisioning, porting, billing, subscriber care, and other mission critical operating metrics. TMNG can then provide recommendations for the successful implementation of WNP.
"Service providers have an urgent need to comply with the FCC mandate for portability. Understanding the impact on complex business processes and systems is a key first step," said TMNG CEO, Rich Nespola. "With our WNP toolkit, we're uniquely positioned to provide optimal solutions to service providers allowing them to understand and favorably react to the likely impact on their business and subscribers."
