MMS Interconnection Service Launched
InphoMatch has launched a service to provide inter-carrier MMS interoperability, enabling mobile subscribers to exchange MMS messages with mobile subscribers on different carrier networks. The InphoXchange MMS interoperability platform provides wireless carriers a single point of connection to enable the exchange of MMS messages with other carriers globally. InphoXchange MMS also enables delivery of MMS messages to non-MMS carriers, via an SMS alert; subscribers of non-MMS carriers would then be able to view the message on the Internet. This is a critical user interoperability challenge because the majority of MMS messages initially will be delivered to non-MMS carriers and handsets.
"Our customers recognize that interoperability was the key to unleashing the explosive growth in SMS," said Jonathan (JB) Haller, senior vice president of Marketing and Business Development of InphoMatch. "In a similar early-stage market, inter-carrier MMS interoperability is essential to kick-start MMS usage and to enable increased wireless data revenues. Building upon the success of InphoMatch's contribution to the explosive uptake of SMS in the Americas, our newest offering will significantly contribute to the adoption of MMS as a rich and effective means of communication."
"By providing SMS notifications to recipients of MMS messages from carriers outside of InphoMatch's MMS delivery network, we enable virtually any MMS to be delivered - regardless of its destination," said William Dudley, senior director of Product Management for InphoMatch.
InphoXchange MMS is fully integrated with InphoMatch's SMS and international routing infrastructure, and includes a comprehensive real-time wireless number portability database. InphoXchange MMS also includes access to MMS traffic statistics, patterns, and reporting available via InphoMatch's InphoManager Web-based portal. Customers also receive carrier-grade QoS (quality of service), including high availability, security and scalability.
In addition to unleashing a powerful new revenue source, carriers benefit by connecting directly with InphoMatch rather than negotiating and managing connections with multiple carriers worldwide. Also, by serving as a neutral third-party, InphoMatch mediates potentially competitive or damaging information and network exposure between multiple carriers."
