Qualcomm Suing Texas Instruments

Qualcomm has filed suit against Texas Instruments for an alleged breach of the Patent Portfolio Agreement which the companies signed in December 2000. The agreement covers both companies' patent portfolios, providing rights to each company to supply integrated circuits on a worldwide basis for all wireless standards.

The complaint, filed on Friday in state court in Delaware, seeks damages and termination of Texas Instruments' rights under the agreement.

As a part of the agreement, both companies signed a confidentiality agreement. Qualcomm is now claiming that TI violated that agreement when it gave out key information about its business relationship in May when it announced plans to team up with Nokia to develop CDMA chipsets."
