Moldova Network Uses IP to Lower International Call Costs

Moldova's Moldcell has launched a new service IPcell that allows customers to make international calls using Internet Protocol, bypassing the normal landline network, and routing the calls over the internet.

The service is available to all Moldcell customers. The service activation conditions are same as for regular international calls. In order to make an international call using IPcell, dial +0, country code, city code, phone number. Example: In order to make a call to Sofia (Bulgaria) you normally dial +359 2xxxxxxx. In order to make the call through IPcell you have to dial +0 359 2xxxxxxx.

The prices for IP calls are much more attractive then the prices for regular international calls, although it should be mentioned that the voice quality of IP calls could be worse than that of regular international calls. Thus, the price of IP calls to some countries is equal to the price of local calls."
