Norway to Auction Two 3G Licenses
Norway's telecoms regulator, the Norwegian Post and Telecommunications Authority says that it plans to auction two 3G licenses. Interested bidders have until the end of August to submit their bids.
Norway currently has two 3G license holders, Telenor and Swedish-Finnish TeliaSonera's NetCom. Originally four licenses were awarded in a beauty contest, but two holders returned their licenses, Broadband Mobile and Tele2 Norge. It remains to be seen if the new entrants will be willing to participate in an auction to buy licenses that were originally given away by the government when the two remaining holders will themselves not be asked to pay extra."Posted to the site on 1st July 2003
