Cell Phones Used to Video Rape
UK police say they are hunting a couple of men who are alleged to have raped a women, while bystanders filmed the event on video enabled cell phones. Brighton & Hove City CID say a 27 year old woman at the Toad in the Picture House pub in Brighton was raped in one of the toilet cubicles whilst not in a fit state to refuse or resist. A short time later staff found her in the toilets collapsed on the floor. She was incoherent, semiconscious and partly clothed. Staff immediately contacted the police.
Enquiries to date have established that other men (probably not connected with the two suspects) watched the rape and it is believed that some recorded images of the rape on their mobile telephones.
Detectives want to trace any witnesses in the toilet at the time this occurred or anyone who has knowledge of the incident. CCTV footage from within the pub has been seized. Detectives are considering releasing CCTV stills of potential witnesses. Police say that so far, 14 men and a woman had contacted them with information about the rape.
DI Peter Laverick investigating said: "I consider the men who did this to be extremely callous and a danger to women. I need to speak to anyone who can help trace them or anyone who was in the toilet when this took place"
