GSM Network Sponsors Cleaning of Historic Areas
The Egyptian Company for Mobile Services, MobiNil has sponsored the mega clean-up campaign of Old Cairo, organized by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to mark the World Environment Day. The event, on June 5th, witnessed the UN staff, Egyptian celebrities and hundreds of volunteers, including MobiNil staff, joining hands to plant trees and clean up the historical area of Old Cairo, which embraces the heritage of both Islam and Christianity.
MobiNil was the first mobile operator in Egypt & the Middle East to obtain the ISO 14001 certificate for successfully developing an integrated system for environment protection. The event, organized by the UN, was attended by Dr. Mamdouh Riyadh, Minister of Environment, Hussein Fahmy, UNDP Goodwill ambassador, Antonio Vigilante, UN Resident Coordinator, along with hundreds of volunteers and celebrities.
MobiNil has an honorable record for supporting projects dedicated to protecting and beautifying the environment, such as the company's involvement in a national summer cleanup project involving the beaches of 6 governorates. Also, MobiNil has donated US$17,000 for beautifying the city of Alexandria prior to the opening of the city's Grand Library."
