LogicaCMG Wins Paraguan Contract

LogicaCMG has signed an agreement to deploy its Short Messaging Service Centre (SMSC) for Hutchison Telecommunications Paraguay, a telecommunications operator in Paraguay. Hutchison is one of four mobile telephony operators in Paraguay, which has a population of over six million and a mobile phone penetration rate approaching 20%. Hutchison has recently launched the service Port-hable in Paraguay. With both the subscriber base and usage of SMS growing significantly, Hutchison needed to deploy a messaging system that could cope with the expected surge in demand whilst ensuring the highest possible quality of service for subscribers. After detailed analysis of the market offerings it selected LogicaCMG's SMS Centre. "We are very excited about the prospects for text message services", said Gabriel Giussani, Hutchison Paraguay's Marketing Manager. "SMS is an important part of our business plan for this year and we selected a messaging platform that could support both our ambitious growth plans and the innovative services we are offering in our market."

Hutchison Telecommunications Paraguay (HTP), part of the Hutchison Telecom Group is licensed to provide mobile services nationwide in Paraguay using the 1900 MHz spectrum. Since the acquisition of the Company by the Hutchison Group in 2000, HTP has continuously expanded its network coverage and capacity to meet the demands of the customers in this market."
