South African Network Orders MMSC

South Africa's MTN has ordered Comverse's Multimedia Messaging Service Center 2.2 (MMSC) to enable its MMS service. Comverse MMSC 2.2 enhances the multimedia user experience, with interoperability between MMS handsets of varying multimedia display capabilities, achieved through its carrier-grade, dedicated external transcoding server, which optimizes multimedia content transfer and display.

"MTN is passionate about enhancing the lives of its consumers and is committed to offering innovative products and services. Our goal is to give our subscribers quality and value: the best possible multimedia messaging experience at a reasonable cost. Comverse's MMSC makes this possible -- its high performance solution meets our needs far into the future, yet keeps our capital and operating expenses low. We view MMS as a key driver in the growth of data traffic -- our consumers will be attracted by the fun of MMS as well as by the business possibilities of MMS applications over the coming years," said Sifiso Dabengwa, Managing Director, MTN South Africa "Our decision was also influenced by consistently positive operator references attesting to the Comverse MMSC's proven track record and to Comverse's ongoing commitment, as a leading messaging company, to MMS excellence."

Stuart Eveleigh, General Manager of Comverse Africa said, "We look forward to broadening our relationship with MTN, a leader in Africa, and we are glad that they have joined the many other operators who have selected the Comverse MMSC as their MMS platform."
