Canadian Mobile Coverage to Improve
Canada's Aliant Mobility announced today a further US$12.5 million investment in the expansion of digital wireless service across Atlantic Canada in the first half of 2003. This digital expansion will extend access, improve service and enhance functionality to the more than half a million customers of Aliant's wireless services throughout the Atlantic region. This investment is part of a total capital investment of over US$41 million in wireless for 2003.
"We are pleased to announce that we have committed significant dollars and resources to expand and enhance our network throughout Atlantic Canada," said Mr. Chuck Hartlen, Vice President, Aliant Mobility. "We're committed to an aggressive expansion of our digital coverage, so more of our customers can enjoy the many benefits that come with this service."
"Over the past four years Aliant has grown the best and broadest digital wireless network in Atlantic Canada, by investing more than US$148 million in our networks and ensuring Atlantic Canadians are offered more choice and convenience than ever before," said Mr. Hartlen.
Areas that are targeted for digital expansion in the first half of 2003 include:
- In New Brunswick, Saint John to St. Stephen including the communities of St. Andrews, Blacks Harbour and Point Lepreau; Shediac to the Confederation Bridge and the Confederation Bridge to Sackville including the communities of Shediac, Cap-Pel
