One2One Demonstrates High Speed Data

One2One, the UK GSM1800 network, has successfully demonstrated real-time video conferencing at speeds of 472 kbps for the first time. Using packet switching and Internet Protocol (IP) standards, the speeds achieved in the One2One tests are about 80kbps faster than the top speed reported to date on any other UK test center. The tests involved two way video calls between an office and a moving vehicle. During the calls, handovers between different radio cells were successfully made without any degradation in picture quality."
