Mitsubishi Licenses Symbian Software

Mitsubishi has become a Symbian OS licensee, having signed a development licence agreement for Mitsubishi to use Symbian OS in its future range of mobile phones.

Mitsubishi has developed its first concept model based on Symbian OS which is was displayed at CeBIT in Hannover, Germany. The Mitsubishi device uses Symbian OS v7.0 as the platform technology for a mobile phone which features a QVGA LCD screen, with a high resolution, mega-pixel camcorder / camera and wireless LAN connectivity with Memory Stick Duo storage capability.

David Levin, CEO, Symbian Ltd, said: "We are very pleased to welcome Mitsubishi as a Symbian OS licensee. We are delighted that Symbian OS has already enabled Mitsubishi to create their highly innovative concept model. We look forward to working with Mitsubishi to extend even further the choice of Symbian OS products available to customers worldwide."
