Two More Canadian Networks Sign Up for SMS Interconnection
Wireless Services Corporation (WSC) has announced that MTS Communications and SaskTel Mobility, Saskatchewan's complete wireless solutions provider, have chosen WSC to provide inter-carrier SMS messaging for MTS and SaskTel customers.
WSC Inter-Carrier Text Messaging allows MTS and SaskTel to send and receive messages between carriers in the U.S. and Canada. WSC, one of three designated U.S. Inter-carrier vendors (ICV) authorized by the CTIA, has previously announced peering agreements and text messaging interoperability agreements in the U.S., Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Peru.
"WSC's interoperability solution allows our text messaging users to communicate simply and quickly with other text messaging users in Canada and the U.S. and in the future, Latin America," said Diana Milenkovic, Senior Vice-President, Customer Service Operations & Mobility, SaskTel. "SaskTel Mobility offers a broad range of wireless data applications and by launching WSC's solution we are able to offer another service we believe our subscribers will find very valuable."
"Both MTS and SaskTel needed an Inter-Carrier partner that could provide the broadest coverage possible," said Kevin McKeand, COO of WSC. "While other inter-carrier vendors have closed their gateways to traffic across national boundaries, WSC has become the leader in supporting universal access to all carriers worldwide."
