Sony Ericsson T606 - CDMA / Colour Screen / Qualcomm BREW / Camera

Sony Ericsson has announced the T606 mobile phone, a dual-band CDMA mobile phone for the North American market. The T606 boasts a convenient user interface optimised for fun game play, with a large colour screen, five-way navigational joystick and the novel capability to perform simultaneous key press functions during gaming. Additionally, the T606's 65,536-colour, 128 x 128 pixel LCD provides high quality on-screen images, while the sixteen-voice polyphonic sound produces superb sound quality that makes ring signals sound like real songs.

"The T606 reinforces our presence in the CDMA market and our continued focus on mobile gaming, while it is also debuting Sony Ericsson's new design in the CDMA market," says Urban Gillstrom, Corporate Vice President and Head of Region North America at Sony Ericsson. "The phone's sophisticated styling and expanded functionality is our respo nse to what consumers are demanding in their mobile phones."

The T606 is one of the first Sony Ericsson CDMA phone to feature the design which is representative of the company's new mobile phones. Along with an internal antenna, the stylish new form factor is small and thin: The T606 weighs in at 99 grams and measures just 106 x 48 x 20mm. Other key characteristics of the T606 include SMS and voice recognition. With the CommuniCam MCA-25 snap-on camera accessory, T606 users can snap pictures of friends and family and use them with the phone's Picture Caller ID capabilities or as their background image on the phone's screen.

Users of the T606 can take advantage of the phone's BREW functionality to download ring tones, games, images and other applications from the Internet via the phone's wireless Web browser, directly into the phone.

The Sony Ericsson T606 will be commercially available in Q2 2003 in North America."
