CDMA License Granted to People Tracker
Qualcomm has entered into a CDMA subscriber unit license agreement with Wherify Wireless, the maker of the world's first GPS Locator for Kids. Under the terms of the royalty-bearing agreement, Qualcomm has granted Wherify a worldwide license under Qualcomm's CDMA technology and patents to manufacture and sell CDMA2000 1X/1xEV-DO subscriber units, including Wherify's distinctive line of GPS locators.
Wherify's flagship product, the GPS Locator for Kids, currently operates on a nationwide CDMA 1900 MHz PCS network. This agreement allows Wherify to directly manufacture and market this and future GPS location devices.
Through the convergence of GPS and digital wireless technologies -- in combination with Wherify's patented technology -- Wherify's GPS Locator for Kids, a miniature wrist-worn locator, offers parents peace of mind knowing they can locate their children 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In the event of an emergency, either the child or parent can request an emergency 911 response and local police will be dispatched."
