Due to differences in digital technological standards, wireless text messaging between the USA and the UK has traditionally been limited to only networks using GSM. But thanks to an agreement with InphoMatch, T-Mobile UK customers are now the able to exchange text messages with U.S. wireless customers on non-GSM networks. InphoMatch is providing routing and connectivity between its U.S. carrier partners and T-Mobile UK. InphoMatch's SMS platform enables interoperability between wireless networks using different technical standards, such as GSM, TDMA, or CDMA.
Clent Richardson, chief sales and marketing officer at T-Mobile UK, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for T-Mobile and demonstrates our commitment to providing customers with a truly seamless international service. There are more than 150 million wireless users in the USA, many of whom have friends, family and business contacts in the UK. Enabling our T-Mobile customers to reach these customers via SMS, shows that we are once again delivering on our brand promise of 'Get more service'."
"InphoMatch routes 75% of all inter-carrier U.S. SMS traffic," said Phil Sweatman, CEO of InphoMatch, Inc. "The addition of T-Mobile UK will accelerate the pace towards global interoperability. We have created a powerful network that carriers around the world will seek to join, opening a tremendous revenue opportunity for all that participate."
