RFI Offering GSM1900 Testing in the UK
Radio Frequency Investigation (RFI) says that it has upgraded its Anite RAMS and SAT 8 system simulators to support GSM1900 testing, GPRS RF and Batch 3 protocol testing. In addition one of its Rohde and Schwarz TS8916Bs has been upgraded to support additional GSM1900 test cases. The upgrades, together with RFI's existing GSM900/1800/1900 capability on two TS8916s, GSM 900/1800 on the SAT and RAMS and AMR on the Racal 6103 AIME CT, means that RFI can offer a complete GSM Phase 2 approval at the single location of its Thatcham, UK test facility making RFI one of the best equipped single location laboratories in the world.
Colin Forrester manager of RFI's telecoms test facility explained "The upgrades are in direct response to increasing levels of products which are dual and tri-band. Over the past 18 months we have seen increasing levels of 1900 products, probably 85% of handsets now incorporate 1900 band."
RFI's investment in telecomms test equipment now stands at US$8 million. Cellular test now accounts for 65% of RFI's business and after a dip last year has seen an increasing volume of testing month on month since January 2002."
