Atmel Launches New CDMA RF Receivers

Atmel has announced the availability of a new CDMA RF receiver family manufactured in SiGe technology. The new family consists of the dual-mode CDMA/AMPS RF receiver T0351, the dual-band CDMA/GPS RF receiver T0354, the dual-band PCS/GPS RF receiver T0352 and the quad-mode/tri-band RF receiver T0353. The T0351 receiver is optimized for the fast-growing South American CDMA phone market, whereas the T0353 receiver is especially designed for the North American CDMA phone market. The T0353 is a highly integrated receiver solution that includes low/high-band CDMA, AMPS, and A-GPS modes. Two additional family members, the T0352 and the T0354, mainly focus on the Far East markets such as Korea and China.

Due to their excellent RF performance, these devices require one gain state less than many competing solutions, which simplifies the design-in process and reduces the amount of calibration time required during phone manufacturing. In addition, the T0352, T0353 and T0354 provide an A-GPS signal, which facilitates GPS based location services. Also, the T0353 and T0354 provide a local oscillator pre-scaler that enables phone designers to reduce cost by eliminating an external extra cell-band local oscillator.

"With this new product family, Atmel is now able to provide its customers with solutions for the receive path of CDMA handset applications, dedicated for each regional phone market. Because of Atmel's advanced SiGe process, the new devices offer maximum performance at a reasonable price," said Carsten Friedrich, Atmel's CDMA Product Marketing Manager."
