Gansu Unicom and Nokia have signed a supply contract for the expansion of the Chinese mobile operator's GSM network in Gansu province. With this contract, Gansu will significantly improve GSM capacity and further optimize GSM network coverage to better serve its 600,000 subscribers.

Equipment deliveries, which include both GSM 900 and 1800 core and radio access network infrastructure and Nokia's operations support system solution, are already underway.

In addition to network equipment, Nokia will provide network planning, implementation, and project management for efficient network ramp-up, as well as radio optimization services for enhancing network quality and capacity. "Gansu Unicom GSM network has achieved tremendous growth in the past four years associated with subscriber base, service quality, public recognition and revenue.
