Cell Phone Java Games to Be Sold in Shops

The UK mobile phone retailer, Phones4U, part of the Caudwell Group has said that it is to start selling Java games in their retail outlets throughout the UK. The retail packs will be branded 'Addicted 2 Java(tm) Games' and will include 10 arcade classics to be played on java-enabled mobile devices such as the Nokia 3410 and 7650.

Customers will be able to buy Java games in 310 Phones4U retail outlets throughout the UK from next week. The games will be sold in CD style packaging and will include a games brochure and scratch card which customers use to download the game. Customers will also be able to purchase games via the Caudwell's sister company's website, through premium rate lines or via reverse billed SMS.

Phones4U's Java service is powered by the Macrospace ProvisionX(tm) platform and operated by Amplefuture Ltd, an international supplier of mobile entertainment solutions. "Amplefuture are thrilled to be working with Phones4U. The mobile games market is thriving and offering customers a new channel to buy these games will only encourage further growth," comments Derek Byrne, Managing Director of Amplefuture."
