Babel Drives Mobile Games Tests for Vodafone Live!
The outsourcing games group, Babel Media has completed its first round of mobile games testing for the Vodafone live! mobile portal. The company was commissioned by Vodafone to test 56 games published by leading Japanese and Korean companies including Namco, Taito and G-mode.
Twenty experienced Babel testers worked on functional and localisation QA in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish on two different handsets - the Nokia 7650 and the Sharp GX10.
"We fully expect mobile games to drive revenues higher and knowing that these games have been exhaustively tried and tested means our European subscribers will receive content of the highest possible quality. Babel Media's expertise in this area has been invaluable to us," said Lee Fenton, Commercial Director, Vodafone Global Content Services.
Earlier this year Babel Media launched the first wireless compatibility lab dedicated to games. The company is in talks with several companies to standardise test procedures for all handsets in an initiative to bring interoperability to networks. "We believe that standardising test procedures will be pivotal to the successful delivery of mobile games - as it has been for console games. It will ease the development process, drive costs down for publishers and carriers and ensure great content for the mobile gamer," said Ben Wibberley, Babel's Business Development Director."
