60 Networks Connected to One GPRS Roaming Service
Infonet Services Corp. has announced that in addition to the established partnership with Comfone, it has now established GPRS Roaming Exchange (GRX) Peering Agreements with 12 other GRX operators. The Infonet GRX network, GRXpress, utilizes Infonet's MPLS-enabled IP network, together with the Peering Agreements, to position GRXpress as offering connectivity to over 60 mobile operators.
Infonet has now established GRX peering agreements with more than two thirds of the operators who are connected to the common peering point at the Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX), and is confident that the balance will be completed by year-end.
Walter Heutschi, President and CEO of Comfone, commented, "Comfone's commitment to support the drive for GPRS roaming worldwide parallels the objectives of the GSM Association to increase the number of GPRS roaming agreements and encourage GRX peering. With 13 GPRS operators as customers and 12 GRX peering agreements in place, making a total reach of more than 60 GPRS operators, we are confident that the achievements of 2002 will carry us forward to further success in 2003."
