AT&T Wireless Orders More Location Tracking Kit

Grayson Wireless, a division of Allen Telecom has received an additional purchase order for Geometrix E911 wireless caller location systems from AT&T Wireless. Grayson is to provide digital dual mode GSM/TDMA-compatible network-based Geometrix E911 caller location systems for deployment in portions of AT&T Wireless's wireless network.

The new order supplements previous AT&T Wireless orders under which Grayson is supplying location systems compatible with AT&T Wireless's TDMA network technology. AT&T Wireless is installing Geometrix caller location systems to provide location information for AT&T Wireless's customers who place E911 calls to Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) that have requested and are prepared to receive this information. PSAPs are public safety agencies such as police and fire departments that respond to 911 calls.

This new order will provide to AT&T Wireless an FCC compliant network- based, dual-mode, dual-band 911 caller location technology that is compatible both with AT&T Wireless's existing TDMA system and with the GSM network- overlay system AT&T Wireless is currently installing throughout its service area. Geometrix is also capable of providing 911 caller locations for AT&T Wireless's customers and roamers who use AMPS (analogue) technology.

Terry Garner, President of Grayson Wireless stated, "We are pleased to be strengthening and expanding our relationship with AT&T Wireless to include the first large scale rollout of a GSM E911 caller location system anywhere in the world. We have been installing our TDMA E911 systems for AT&T Wireless since June, and we believe this dual-mode system is the next logical step."
