Lesotho Gets Upgraded Messaging Service

Glenayre Technologies has announced that Vodacom, has installed it's Versera Messaging platform at its Lesotho network. Vodacom Lesotho will utilize Glenayre's Versera Messaging platform to support a variety of value-added enhanced services, including auto attendants with bulletin boards, virtual telephony and one-touch call return.

"Since its inception, Vodacom has taken the South African communications market by storm, swiftly adding subscribers and rapidly expanding its network coverage," said Bill Edwards, senior vice president of sales, marketing and customer service for Glenayre. "Vodacom's success is directly related to its ability to anticipate services and applications that South Africans need. Glenayre is excited to help Vodacom Lesotho install and deploy a series of enhanced services that will increase penetration of their existing customer base and attract new subscribers with compelling services and applications." "The ability to open new revenue streams through auto attendants with bulletin boards, virtual telephony and one-touch call return is central to Vodacom's growth plan," said Vodacom spokesperson. "Currently, our subscribers avidly download ringtones, use text messaging and select our prepaid solutions. Vodacom anticipates that the addition of new enhanced services that promote more accessible forms of communications will be received as enthusiastically as our existing applications."
