GRX Network Interconnects Nearly All GPRS Operators Worldwide

Germany's T-Systems GRX network is now interconnected with nearly all GPRS operators worldwide. T-Systems International Carrier Sales & Services (ICSS), which manage GPRS Roaming Exchange (GRX), said that more than 80 operators are now linked. Of these, 12 mobile operators are directly connected to the GRX network. Furthermore, 16 peering agreements with other GRX platform providers have been established to exchange GPRS traffic. T-Systems works with all of these mobile operators to develop industry standards and solutions.

"For GPRS and upcoming technologies like UMTS to succeed, it is vital that GRX providers establish a high-quality network for data roaming," explains Stefanie Kalmbach, executive vice president product management of T-Systems ICSS. In September, T-Systems ICSS launched a network monitoring system which enables GPRS customers to monitor parameters such as delay, jitter and packet loss, to provide an improved seamless service to end users.

Close cooperation between mobile carriers and T-Systems is ensured through a dedicated GRX network extranet portal, which enables customers to keep up-to-date with the most recent peering partners, Service Level Agreement advances and the latest roaming partner implementation.'"
