Changing Cell Phone Use in Belgium Drive Tariff Changes

A study conducted recently by the market survey company INRA at the request of Belgium's Mobistar shows a very marked trend in the use of different means of telecommunication by Belgian households. A few major trends were identified. Belgians have more than one mobile phone per household and they are increasingly eliminating fixed lines in favour of mobiles, or they are opting for a complete range of equipment: one or more mobile phones, a fixed line and a fast Internet connection. Mobistar also found that mobile phones had become a veritable link between family members. In response to these trends, as from 28 August, Mobistar is offering a new formula specially designed for families, Mobistar Family, based on the principle of sharing monthly call time between all members of the family.

The principle of Mobistar Family is to pay only one monthly subscription per family, with or without children, sharing the predefined call time and, above all, offering free calls between members of the family for one hour a month. All members of a family that subscribe to the Mobistar Family contract retain their own numbers and voice messaging.'"
