Mobile Gaming Firms Looking to Consolidate
A new report from Mobile Metrix has suggested that the next 6 months is likely to see the mobile gaming industry leaders further consolidate their position and a first tier of leading companies be defined, most likely those belonging to the Mobile Metrix A-List. It is will also become more difficult for newly established companies to make significant inroads into leading the industry but at the same time there is now a greater deal of stability for them to gain access to the market.
Based on ten key criteria including financing, profitability, sales, customer contracts, geographic focus and sales, the most promising companies identified by the report are: 724 Solutions (Canada), InfoSpace (USA), SignalSoft - (USA -now acquired by Openwave), Cybird (Japan), Emblaze Systems (Israel), iTouch (UK), Walt Disney Internet Group (WDIG) (USA), Zed (Finland), Acotel (Italy), Digital Bridges (UK), MobileWay (USA) and MTI (Japan).
Meanwhile, at country level, USA, UK, Japan and Finland are clearly identified as the leading markets in the sector. While the US may not be seen as the leader in mobile technology and infrastructure it is the country of origin of the most companies on our leader list of providers of applications and content followed by the UK, Finland and Japan. While the US may be the country of origin for the most companies on the leader list it does not mean that it leads in terms of service deployment. Japan is still deemed to be the leading country with regards mobile internet and its deployment.'"
