Vodafone Italy Upgrades its Mobile Entertainment Platform

Cash-U Mobile Technologies has said that Vodafone Omnitel has upgraded to Pecan 2.0 - Cash-U's open-standard enabler of mobile entertainment applications. Since launching mPlay games portal and generating over 100 million mobile entertainment transactions via Pecan, Vodafone Omnitel is keen to further benefit from the platform.

Pecan 2.0's predecessor was the first mobile entertainment platform to be installed at an operator's site. Additional features include portal management capabilities and integration with external platforms. This enables operators to offer a wide range of personalised and advanced entertainment services, such as multi-user games and tournaments, while supporting high levels of traffic.

Vodafone Omnitel's mPlay SMS game portal was the first to be launched in Italy and has been a huge success. Through its wide range of pay per play games, Vodafone Omnitel has driven significant revenues and has acquired, on average, 150,000 new users per month.'"
