UK Ring-tone Company Launches Java Games

The handset customization web site Iconaphone, operated by Amplefuture has launched a range of Java games for cell phones, supplied by Macrospace. The service allows users to download applications and games onto the new range of Java-compliant mobile handsets in a similar way that ringtones, logos and screensavers are downloaded to current handsets.

The Iconaphone Java launch has been timed to coincide with mass market Java enabled devices appearing in UK retail stores. The offering ensures that customers for new handsets such as the Siemens SL42i and the Siemens SL45i have a website to go to download compelling new applications and games.

"We are very excited about Java and the new revenue and differentiation opportunities it offers for the mobile content market." Says Derek Byrne, MD of Amplefuture. "Macrospace has proved to be an ideal partner, providing us with an end-to-end solution and allowing us to offer a quality service to our customers."

Macrospace supplies the delivery and emulation technology as well as providing content aggregation, testing and certification.
