Czech Network Delays MMS Launch
The Czech Republic's Eurotel has said that it will launch MMS at the end of this month, on the 30th August. The launch has been delayed by five days due to the recent flooding in the country diverting resources.
In July, Eurotel began selling two MMS-ready mobile phones: the Nokia 7650 and the Sony Ericsson T68i. With these phones, MMS service can be activated with a call to Eurotel. If an MMS is sent to a phone that does not support the MMS standard, the recipient will receive an SMS notification with a URL and password that allows them to view the complete message via the Internet or WAP.
Activation is free, as is receiving an MMS. Sending an MMS to another Eurotel phone costs US$0.30. Eurotel is expanding the service this September, when customers can register for unique MMS information and entertainment services that include such items as news and weather, illustrations, animated postcards, and images that include soundtracks.'"
