Vodafone Asks for 3G Payment Delay
mmO2 has confirmed that it has accepted a 3G 'B' licence in Ireland. The 'B' licence includes minimum requirements of 33% demographic coverage to be fulfilled by the end of June 2006 and 53% demographic coverage to be fulfilled by the end of June 2008. The total licence fee is US$112 million phased over 15 years with the first installment of US$43.5 million to be paid up-front.
Meanwhile, Vodafone has not yet committed to taking up its B license, and has secured an extension on the payment deadline. Vodafone now has until September 12th to decide if it will take up the license.
Hutchison Whampoa has already paid its initial installment for its license.'"
