Hungarian Network Passes 3 Million Subscriber Mark

On July 16 the number of customers of Hungary's GSM network, Westel exceeded 3 million. In the mobile market - continuously showing dynamic increase - the company has more than 50% market share. The number of customers doubled in just one and a half year - it increased from 1.5 million to 3 million. The ratio of pre-paid card users continued to increase, more than 72% of Westel's subscribers use the pre-paid Domino service. The Domino7 tariff package - introduced recently and offering weekend tariffs three days a week - has been a major hit among young people, primarily.

The company has been extending the scope of its loyalty programme - being unique in Hungary - available for the more than 800 thousand post-paid, regular customers. The Gold Card programme - launched in 1997 and offering point collection, as well as the redemption of points for different products - has been upgraded recently by introducing a unique offering: the monthly subscription fee of partner-cards can be fully converted by paying for voice communication and SMS traffic.

The 3 millionth subscriber was given a free Volkswagen car by the company.'"
