LG to Embed EMS into its Handsets

magic4 has announced a global partnership with South Korea's LG Electronics to incorporate its Enhanced Messaging Service (EMS) client into the range of CDMA and 3G handsets manufactured by LG Electronics.

Gordon Tsang, Regional Director Asia, magic4, said: "We are delighted to be announcing the partnership with LG Electronics. This partnership enhances the magic4 brand and is further evidence that the world's leading handset manufacturers view magic4 as the de-facto standard in EMS client software. The magic4 EMS client will provide LGE users with a host of applications including the exchange of enhanced messages, downloading facilities and high quality polyphonic ringtones."

In related news, magic4 also announced its participation in the MMS IOP Group as an associated member. The activities of the group include facilitation and co-ordination of MMS interoperability testing, problem solving and the channelling of technical information related to such testing. The results of this work will be releases to 3GPP and the WAP-Forum to be included in the open standards defined by these bodies. This will assist manufacturers and developers in ensuring that MMS applications are compatible and will result in a more rapid introduction of MMS products to the market.

Launched in March 2000 with backing from 3i and Philips Enterprises, magic4 has a 50-strong team with bases in Asia, North America and Europe.'"
