China's Legend Mobile has signed an agreement with the Danish games developer, Kiloo to develop branded versions of Kiloo's mobile game, Popstar. Legend expects to develop separate versions of the game for its licenses with Christina Aguilera and Nelly.
Popstar, the winner of the Nokia Mobile Challenge, is a Java based game that challenges the user to become a star by meeting the basic needs of a celebrity such as eating and working out. To build fame, the user needs to tour, rehearse, and buy better equipment and costumes. The games are targeted to the growing number of phones in the United States that feature J2ME. Java phones are currently available from Motorola and Legend currently markets a Christina Aguilera data application on the Nextel network.
"We are very excited to be working with Kiloo to further develop our entertainment licenses. In addition to the growing mobile gaming opportunities in the United States, this partnership should produce products that are appealing to carriers around the world where the gaming market is much more established," said Peter Klamka, President of Legend Mobile.'"
