AOL Comes to Samsung Phones

Samsung and America Online have announced plans to integrate the AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) service into Samsung's cellphone, the SGH-r225M. The r225M is a new addition to Samsung's line of GSM wireless handsets that enable users to personalize their phones through a host of innovations. With color LED options for caller ID, the r225M allows consumers to bring character to incoming calls by assigning any one of five standard colors (green, orange, red, violet and blue) to up to five phone book entries. Consumers can further personalize their phones by downloading the latest ring tones and images.

"Instant messaging, one of the most popular ways that people communicate today, is taking hold as a valuable application for wireless phones," said Lex Felker, senior vice president and chief technology officer of AOL Anywhere for America Online. "We're pleased that Samsung will be integrating the AIM service into their new r225M wireless handset and providing an exciting way for people to stay connected."

The r225M will be available to consumers nationwide through the USA in June.'"
