Music Recognition Service Prepares for Launch
The music recognition company, Shazam Entertainment has appointed Mobileway to provide it with a premium SMS solution to all four major mobile operators in the UK for the company's service at launch this Summer. Shazam has developed a real-time song identification service that will be deployed to mobile phone users. When users hear a song they like they simply dial Shazam's four-digit number from their mobile, let their phones listen along to the music for 15 seconds, and immediately learn the name of the song and the artist via SMS. The company has developed a technology in audio pattern recognition to enable this service, for which six patents have been filed.
Chris Barton, CEO and founder of Shazam, commented: "We are very excited about working with Mobileway and selected the company because of their knowledge of the premium SMS space together with their willingness to understand and work closely with a start-up like Shazam. Mobileway has enabled us to provide a quality SMS service to our users very young in our life cycle which is critical to the success of our launch. Going forward, MobileWay's superior international coverage including access to operators across Europe and the US is vital when we look to other markets to launch the Shazam service."'"
