Zain has confirmed that it is interested in buying a 4G license in Egypt from the telecoms regulator.
In a statement to the Kuwait stock market, the company said that it had made the approach through one of its subsidiaries.
Zain "is studying a number of investment opportunities available in the region, one of which is the Egyptian telecommunications market as a strategic market in the Middle East and Africa", the company said.
The Egyptian regulator recently granted a 4G license to the incumbent landline operator, and has offered them to the three mobile networks, Orange, Vodafone and Etisalat.
