Former M1 Employee to be Canned for Selling Customer Details

A customer service employee who used to work for Singapore's MobileOne (M1) has been convicted of accepting bribes to sell M1 customer account details, and bribing an employee at a rival network for their customer details.
Tay Kunhong, 33 was sentenced to 17 months in jail, a SG$90,000 fine, and Singapore's signature punishment, three strokes of the cane.
Tay Kunhong took bribes from a loanshark to hand over details of M1 customers, but also himself then bribed a friend working at Singtel to hand over details of customers considering closing their account there.
Tay faced a total of 269 charges, and pleaded guilty to 8 of them.
He was reported to have taken the action in order to pay back a loan shark he had taken a debt from.
