Possible Delay for UK's 3G Network Launch

The UK's Sunday Business newspaper has reported that Hutchison3G's UK network may miss its September deadline for launching its 3G network. The newspaper said that delays in the supply of handsets and network equipment was the cause for the launch delay. The paper cited SG Securities as saying that the network would still launch this year, sometime in the fourth quarter. Hutchison3G appeared to be trying to synchronize the launch of its networks in Italy and the UK, so a delay in the UK may also affect the Italian network.

Hutchison3G holds the UK's only non-incumbent network 3G license and is 65% owned by Hutchison Telecom, 20% by NTT DoCoMo and 15% by KPN.'"
