Sri Lankan Network Improves its Core System
DMC Stratex Networks has won a US$2 million contract from MTN Networks to supply transmission equipment and services for the Company's GSM network in Sri Lanka. Components of the purchase order include Altium and XP4 radios, providing connectivity between cellular base stations and the core network infrastructure. Shipments under this contract, originally signed in February 2002, are scheduled to begin next month.
Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Networks (Pvt) Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Telecom Malaysia, stated, "Stratex Networks has been a supplier of transmission equipment to Dialog GSM for the past six years. With this expansion programme, many more areas in Sri Lanka will benefit from GSM and GPRS coverage. Furthermore, Stratex transmission equipment will play a major role in the cell densification programmes being undertaken in most major cities in the country."'"
