Huawei has announced that the industry's first international Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) based Voice over LTE (VoLTE) roaming call between Europe and Asia has been made.
Using Huawei solutions the call was made in collaboration with KPN Netherlands and China Mobile networks.
This IMS-based call was initiated by KPN Netherlands and connected by China Mobile utilizing IBASIS as a tandem office. It was tested to verify the commercial deployment of international VoLTE roaming.
Mr. Long Jiping, Vice President, Huawei Core Network, spoke about the test. He said, "Huawei is committed to promoting commercial VoLTE deployment globally. We feel honored to cooperate with KPN and China Mobile to complete this call. As 4G evolves Huawei will continue to work with both operators to stimulate a smooth network evolution from 3G. This will bring higher quality service experience to their users."
