Ringtones to patent lawsuit company, Vringo has added Romania to the long list of countries where it is suing ZTE for patent infringement.

The filings allege infringement of the Romanian part of European Patent 1,808,029. The patent in suit relates to the handover between different networks initiated by a mobile device. This patent has been declared essential to ETSI in connection with 4G LTE standards.

The two companies have been engaged in an increasingly vocal dispute over patents since 2012, when ZTE claimed that it was unable to secure royalty rates that complied with FRAND principles, but Vringo countered that ZTE had not made an appropriate offer.

The two sides are now suing each other in a number of countries, and ZTE recently initiated action to have the patents declared to be invalid in China.
