Send SMS's from MS Outlook

FAB IT Solutions has announced the public availability of the Beta version of FAB SMS Addin for Microsoft Outlook, which is designed to allow SMS's to be sent from with the Microsoft Outlook program. An active connection to the internet is all that is required.

The FAB SMS Addin for Microsoft Outlook provides the ability for users to compose a new text message in the same manner as a regular email, by entering the name in the "To..." field users a relieved from the duty of having to manually look mobile numbers as names are resolved against Outlook address books, public folders and Global distribution lists and mobile numbers extracted automatically. Messages can be sent to Distribution lists for Broadcast (multiple recipients) SMS. As is usual with SMS, up to 160 characters can be sent in one messages with messages over that size being broken down into two or more messages.

Replies to messages sent can be directed to a mobile number of the senders choice. It is not possible to have messages delivered straight back into the senders inbox but the company says that it hoped to add this functionality at a future date. The company uses a European SMS center for sending its messages, so there is the possibility that some networks may not be supported.'"
