T-Mobile USA Scraps Company Discounts for Employees

Note -- this news article is more than a year old.
T Mobile USA is scrapping a discount that it offers employees of companies that arrange staff benefits for their own employees.
Some companies had negotiated a discount for their employees who took out a T-Mobile subscription that saw the discount applied to their personal phone accounts.
T-Mobile has announced that it is scrapping that scheme with near immediate effect, although customers will get a fixed US$25 discount on any handset they buy or upgrade to in the future.
Andrew Sherrard, senior vice president of marketing for T-Mobile said this is meant to make discounts less confusing and more equal.
The downside for heavy users is that their discount may have exceeded the $25 saving on a new phone, especially if they don't upgrade that often. However, for T-Mobile, pushing customers to upgrade often leads to higher data usage, which is better for the mobile network in the long term.
