China' Huawei has signed a contract with Saudi Arabia's Mobily to launch a "smart network" in the Kingdom.
Huawei said that the agreement will see co-operate with the Saudi mobile network on a series of business and market research programmes over the next five years, including the exploration of ways in which Mobily can maximise the value of its existing infrastructure.
Mobily and Huawei had run a similar trial project over a three-month period in early 2013, looking at how a "Smart Network Initiative" could enhance Mobily's service capabilities.
"In an era marked by high-bandwidth demands and anytime, anywhere access, this latest Smart Network Initiative between Mobily and Huawei will contribute greatly to the future evolution of Mobily's network while delivering tomorrow's digital services more efficiently, quickly, and effectively to the Saudi public," said Wu Weitao, CEO, Huawei Saudi Arabia.
