Just after it signed a deal to put more adverts into its service the photo sharing app Instagram has released a revamped version of the app for Android phones.
In a short tweet, the company announced that the update was available, which it said would make the faster and more responsive.
However, the main benefit of the new design is to make it easier to use on the wide range of screensizes that Android devices come in. Simplified visuals for smaller phones and larger buttons on phablet sized devices than can support them.
By simplifying the app, they also speeded up the load time when a person wants to take a photo, and the USA based company has also run tests on a lot more handsets sold globally to ensure compatibility.
The update comes nearly two years after Instagram first lauched on Android.
The service, which is now owned by Facebook has around 150 million users, of which about half are Android based users, and some 60% based outside the USA.
Instagram version 5.1 is now available to download on Google Play.
