Albania's telecoms regulator Akep has ordered that all SIM cards be re registered with the mobile network operators.
It said that the measure was requested by the Ministry of Interior following the use of mobile phones in remote control explosions.
The country's four mobile operators, AMC, Vodafone Albania, Albtelecom - Eagle Mobile and Plus Communications have been ordered to notify by means of a unified SMS, starting from February 22, 2014, all those subscribers resulting under a name whose group exceeds the number 20, to go to the authorised points of sale and perform their individual re-registration.
In the event the subscriber fails to re-register the number, that number will be blocked until it is re-registered.
