Media streaming service BitTottent is shutting down its P2P based website service in favour of focuing on its mobile service instead.
The company said it would close the service next week in an email that was sent to users.
In the email, they blamed the fact that users needed to download a browser plug-in before being able to use the service as "daunting" for its user base. They added that "Due to the shift in engineering focus to mobile, we are no longer able to support the existing BitTorrent Live web site."
The service will close on the 27th February.
The company recently announced that it is working on a P2P based media streaming service for mobile devices, where is can be presumed that consumers will be less daunted by the notion of downloading an app to access a service.
